大津校 定期朝食会 Breakfast Club
スミス英会話大津校では、２００８年１月より「Breakfast Club」という英会話朝食会を開催しています。
Smith’s School of English, Otsu has been holding a fun regular event called “Breakfast Club” since January, 2008.
大津校の生徒の皆さんはもちろん、スミス英会話の他校の生徒様、ご家族やお友達の皆様、海外からの旅行者、ご近所にお住まいの方々、他の英会話学校の生徒様にもご参加いただいております。
We invite everyone! We welcome not only the students of Smith’s School of English but also friends, family members, international visitors, our neighbors and students from other English conversation schools.
２００９年1月からは、毎月第1水曜日にJR大津駅２階にある「トランドール」というカフェで、午前９時半からコーヒーや紅茶を片手に、英語でのおしゃべりを楽しんでいます。
From January 2009, breakfast club is on the 1st Wednesday of every month from 9:30 am. We gather at a cafe “Torandoru” on the 2nd floor of JR Otsu station and enjoy coffee and tea while chatting in English.
「Breakfast Club」の魅力は？
— 英会話に興味のある多くの皆さんとお友達になれます。
— このクラブは、自由に会話を楽しむことを目的としており、特別に決まった話題や構成があるわけではありません。皆さんの思いのままにお話いただけます。
— 参加者の皆さんとの会話を通し、ご自分の英語力の長所や短所に気付くことができます。
— 中学校や高校、英会話学校で学んだ英語力を実際に試してみることが出来ます。
— 英語力のレベルはお気になさらないで下さいね。英語を話す環境にご自分を一度置いてみて下さい！
— クラブ参加は無料です！予約も必要ありません。恥ずかしがらず、どうぞ一度ご参加ください。英会話は本当に楽しいですよ☆
Let me tell you what’s special about this club!
— You can make many new friends who are also interested in chatting in English.
— There are no specific conversation topics nor structures to this club. So you can simply enjoy talking about any of your interests.
— Through chatting with other participants, you can learn the strengths and weaknesses of your English.
— You can apply the English skills you learnt in junior high school, high school and/or English Conversation Schools.
— You don’t have to worry about your English level. It is meaningful just to be in an English speaking environment.

— エドワードとチハルが偶然大津駅前で知り合ったカナダからの旅行者も参加し、旅の楽しい話をして下さいました。
— 大津校生のHirokoさんがお孫さんを連れてご参加くださいました。とってもかわいい女の子で、クラブのみんなが温かい気持ちになりました。
— 毎週参加して下さる大津校生Masakoさん。お姉さんやお友達と一緒に英会話を楽しまれています。
— スミス英会話山科校の先生や地域に住むネイティブスピーカーも時々参加しています。
Who has joined us in the Breakfast Club?
— Otsu school’s teacher Edward’s friend, Andrew from Australia has joined us several times. It is fun to hear the difference between Edward’s Canadian English and Andrew’s Australian English!
— A local computer store staff member has joined us from time to time.
— A visitor from Canada who Edward and Chiharu happened to meet in front of Otsu station joined us one day. He told us very interesting stories of his trip.
— One of our students, Hiroko san brought her granddaughter to the Club. She was very cute and sweet. Her smile made us all feel very happy.
— Masako san joins us every week. She invites her sister and friends and enjoys English conversation with us.
— A teacher from Smith’s School of English, Yamashina joins us from time to time.
— Many local foreigners also join the club occasionally.

英会話を習い始めて以来、レッスンだけでなく実践の場が欲しい、外国人の友達を作りたいと思い続けてきました。そんな時、このBreakfast Clubを知り「これだ！」と思いました。
お茶を飲みながら話して笑って、あっという間に時が過ぎ、楽しい一時を過ごしています。

Since I started to learn English conversation, I’ve hoped to have some opportunities to practice English and to make friends with foreigners. When I was introduced to this Breakfast Club, I thought “Bingo!”
As we talk and laugh drinking tea, time flashes by.
I enjoy the Breakfast Club very much.
Although I can’t take part in it every Wednesday, whenever I go there, teachers and friends welcome me. That makes me very happy!
