Before I came to Smith’s I used to go to a giant, corporate English School. That school was so focused on business that even the lessons felt like they were being taught by the numbers. I felt less like a student who was coming there to study English, and more like one customer of a large service industry. I couldn’t shake this feeling, so, feeling jaded and discontent, I finally quit.
I set out to find a new school thinking, “Isn’t there a nice place were I can get excited about studying English?” That’s when I found Smith’s School of English ? Karasuma!
My teacher there is Gordon Tippett As a person he is overflowing with kindness and as an educator I find him to be extremely professional. The lessons are great fun and with a teacher who is so enthusiastic about teaching, I can’t help but be enthusiastic about learning. So much so that often I’ll loose all track of time and the lesson will already be over in what seems like an instant.
Part of my teacher’s kindness is reflected in the way he takes care to break down and help me with even the smallest details of the lesson. The lessons are so fulfilling and worthwhile that I’m motivated to study even after I go home.
Even outside the lessons he takes the time to discuss various things with me and give heartfelt advice. I’m so thankful to have found such a wonderful teacher!
Smith’s is a monthly payment school so it’s truly accessible for even those with only a casual interest in English. I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone taking a trial lesson at least once.

私はスミスに通う前に大手の英会話スクールに通った経験があります。
そこではあまりにもビジネス優先主義でレッスンもマニュアル化されている感じでした。

先生は優しさの中にも時には親身になって細かく指導していただけるのでレッスン後はすごく充実感に満たされていますし、自宅でももっと勉強しなければいけないと励みにもなりモチベーションが維持できます。
授業以外でもいろんな相談にも乗ってくださり、貴重なアドバイスもいただいています。
良い先生に巡り会えた事に感謝しています。
